Here at AC ADAPTORS R US LTD, we often get asked 'How do I know what connector size I need?'
The answer is, you dont.
If your original adaptor has a model number which matches the title of the product listing then you have no worry, unless the Manufacturer used the same model number on more than one sized connect.
WHAT? (I hear you say)
Yes, some manufacturers have used the same AC Adaptor model number but put more than one connector size on the end.
The most common areas this has been done is with BABY MONITOR Adaptors.
Motorola are very bad for doing it.
Example - RJ-AS060450E002 which was made with a 2.5mm and a 3.5mm connector as shown below -
3.5mm - https://www.acadaptorsrus.co.uk/genuine-eu-6v-450m...
2.5mm - https://www.acadaptorsrus.co.uk/genuine-eu-6v-450m...
Our best advice is this -
If the connector on your original adaptor fits SNUG into a headphone port on a Smartphone (or similar device like Laptop/Tablet/PC etc) then it will be 3.5mm and will be the thicker of the 2 sizes used by Baby Monitors.
If its wobbly in the headphone port then its likely to be 2.5mm.
If it doesnt fit into a headphone port at all then its likely to be 4mm or 5.5mm.
Normally, 4mm is Yellow and 5.5mm is Black but this isnt always the case.
If it doesnt fit SNUG into a headphone port then put a ruler across the external diameter and see if its nearer to 4mm or 5.5mm.
When you know your connector size, you then just need a few more details to purchase your replacement (Voltage, Amperage and Polarity)
Ideally, you would just type your Model Number on your Original Adaptor or the Model number of the Device you need the AC Adaptor for into our Search Engine and find a match but if its unknown to us or you dont have your Original Adaptor then a few checks on the Size of the Connector, Voltage, Amperage, Polarity and even whether you need AC or DC are all things which we are used to.
